Washington and Nevada Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Home Care Helper Effective date: October 11, 2026 ยท Last updated: October 11, 2026
This policy applies to "consumers" as defined by Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data privacy law (together, the "Consumer Health Data Laws"). It is part of our Privacy Policy. Terms such as "consumer health data," "collect," "consent," "process," "sale," and "share" have the meanings given to them in the Consumer Health Data Laws, which may differ from their everyday meanings.
The Home Care Helper Group LLC ("Home Care Helper," "we," "us," or "our") is a referral service that connects families with one home care agency that serves their area. We are not a home care agency and do not provide care.
1. Consumer health data we collect
When you submit a care request, we may collect:
- Information about the care needed: who needs care, the type of help needed (for example, companionship, help with bathing, dressing, or moving around, or memory care), how many hours, and when care should start.
- Health conditions or needs you choose to tell us about, such as a diagnosis, a recent hospital stay, or mobility limits.
- Information that identifies you as someone seeking care services: your name, phone number, email address, and ZIP code together with your care request.
- How care will be paid for, such as private pay, long-term care insurance, or veterans' benefits.
We do not collect biometric data, genetic data, gender-affirming care information, or precise location information, and we do not use geofencing around health care facilities.
2. Why we collect and use it
We collect and use consumer health data only:
- to match you with a home care agency that serves your area and can meet your needs, and to connect you with it;
- to contact you about your request and follow up on how it went;
- to verify requests and prevent fraud, duplicates, and abuse;
- to keep our services secure and working; and
- to comply with the law.
We collect and use consumer health data only with your consent, or as necessary to provide the service you asked for. We do not use it to target advertising.
3. Where we get it
- Directly from you (or someone acting for you, such as a family member) through our website, phone calls, texts, and emails.
- From lead forms you submit on advertising platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.
- From the home care agency we match you with, about how your request turned out (for example, whether they reached you).
4. Who we share it with
- One home care agency matched to your request, with your consent, so it can contact you about the care you asked for. Agencies pay us a fee for each referral. If that agency can't help, we may match you with a different agency, and we will tell you when we do.
- Our service providers (processors), such as cloud hosting, text messaging, email, and phone providers, which process data only on our behalf and under contracts that require them to protect it.
- As required by law, for example in response to a valid court order.
We do not share consumer health data with advertising platforms, data brokers, or any other third parties for their own marketing.
5. Your rights
As a Washington or Nevada consumer, you have the right to:
- Confirm whether we are collecting, sharing, or selling your consumer health data, and access it, including a list of all third parties and affiliates we have shared it with or sold it to and an active email address or other online contact for each;
- Withdraw your consent to our collection, processing, sharing, or sale of your consumer health data;
- Delete your consumer health data, including from our service providers' systems; and
- Request changes to consumer health data that is inaccurate.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
6. How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@homecarehelper.com with "Consumer Health Data Request" in the subject line. Please tell us:
- what you'd like us to do (for example, delete your data or give you a copy);
- your first and last name; and
- the phone number and email address you think we have on file.
We will verify your request by matching the information you give us to our records, and we will respond within 45 days (we may extend this by another 45 days when reasonably necessary, and will tell you if we do). We won't charge you for a request. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for written proof of their authority.
7. Appeals
If we deny your request in whole or in part, you can appeal by emailing privacy@homecarehelper.com with "Appeal" in the subject line, including the date and nature of your original request and why you disagree. We will respond within 45 days. If we deny your appeal, Washington residents may contact the Washington State Attorney General at www.atg.wa.gov, and Nevada residents may contact the Nevada Attorney General at ag.nv.gov.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or share consumer health data, we will ask for your consent again before applying the change to data we already have, where the law requires it.
